VALDOSTA, Ga. (AP) – Georgia troopers are searching an area of south Georgia after a small plane disappeared from radar.

The Federal Aviation Administration said an alert notice was issued Monday morning after air traffic controllers lost contact with a Cessna 441 aircraft.

The plane had taken off Monday morning from Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in Florida. It was last located about two miles west of Cairo-Grady County Airport in Georgia.

Trooper post commander Sgt. Tommy Peeples told The Valdosta Daily Times (http://bit.ly/1QeiIj8 ) that low cloud cover and poor visibility were hindering the search.
