FORT MYERS, Fla.- A man is in jail accused of carjacking a woman with a gun.
Lee County deputies say the victim was out walking her dog along Heronwood Lane when James Johnson approached her Monday night and demanded she hand over her keys.
When the victim questioned her attacker, deputies say Johnson threatened her, saying “you’re asking too many questions. I had to cut people before.”
Authorities say Johnson took the car, a blue PT Cruiser, but they were later able to find it nearby, at the Barbara B. Mann parking lot.
“It’s definitely scary because I do have two kids and I am outside of my house a lot, so it’s scary to know that that kind of stuff just kind of happens,” said Kimberly Moore who lives near where the carjacking occurred.
Moore said she can’t imagine what her neighbor is going through.
“We’re constantly running in and out of the house. I don’t get home until 10 p.m. sometimes, so I’m out walking around late going from the car to the front door,” said Moore.
Johnson was placed under arrest for carjacking with a firearm. The victim was not harmed.
