ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) – A dead pit bull with a short rope around her neck attached to a cinder block has been found floating near a wilderness preserve.
The Tampa Tribune (http://bit.ly/1SSoWDp) reports that a fisherman found the dog’s body in the waterway near a channel on Thursday.
Sheriff’s marine deputies began an animal cruelty investigation Thursday morning.
Deputies described the female pit bull as brindle or brown with a white belly.
The remains were recovered from the water and released to SPCA of Tampa Bay.
