JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says no foul play is suspected in the death of an elementary school student.

The Florida Times-Union (http://bit.ly/1HYki6s ) reports a rescue unit was called to Waterleaf Elementary School on Thursday morning. The child was taken to a hospital and was later pronounced dead.

Duval County Public Schools spokesman Mark Sherwood said in a statement that the child apparently had a medical condition. He says school psychologists and social workers were sent to the school to help students and staff.

The statement said the district recognizes that the school staff and first responders took all steps to save the student’s life and followed proper protocols.

The student was not identified and officials didn’t describe the medical issue.

No further details were immediately available.
