FORT WHITE, Fla. (AP) – Authorities say two deputies in north Florida were burned by chemicals after getting into a fight with a suspect while investigating reports of a meth lab.

A Columbia County Sheriff’s Office arrest report says the deputies responded Tuesday to reports that a man and woman with two small children were making meth at their home.

Once in the home, the report says 32-year-old Patrick Pargo grabbed a container of chemicals used to make meth. During a following struggle, the report says Pargo poured the chemicals out, burning the deputies’ arms. Both have since returned to duty.

Pargo, who was also burned, was arrested for aggravated battery on a police officer and other charges.

The sheriff’s office says Pargo is still in jail and did not know if he had an attorney.
