CAPE CORAL, Fla.- Detectives are investigating an armed robbery at a north Cape Coral McDonald’s Tuesday night.

Around 10:40 p.m., Cape Coral police say two men with covered faces entered the McDonald’s located at 2541 Del Prado Blvd N. armed with handguns.

The suspects ordered employees to the rear of the store and pointed their handguns at them, demanding the money from the safe, police said. The suspects also took money from the drive thru register.

The men left the store and were last seen running northbound from the restaurant on foot.

McDonald’s customers who frequent the restaurant often say they were shocked to hear about the robbery.

I live right down the street and I have kids. Could you imagine if I was there last night? Then what would have happened?” says Jeannine Andrew.

The restaurant was shutdown and blocked off Tuesday night while officer investigated. The restaurant re-opened for business, Wednesday.

Andrew says the armed robbery won’t stop her from coming to McDonald’s but says she will be more aware of her surrounding from now on.

“I will keep on looking over my shoulder and looking around,” says Andrew.
