FORT MYERS, Fla.- A woman accused of stabbing a Yorkie in 2015 is heading to prison for 18 months after pleading no contest to aggravated animal abuse.

Adelle Cochrane, 22, who deputies say is homeless, told veterinarians she stabbed the dog after it bit her in March.

Cochrane claimed she blacked out and didn’t remember injuring the animal, authorities said.

The animal welfare group Spay Lee says the Yorkie has recovered and was placed into a loving home.
