CAPE CORAL, Fla. – A 34-year-old man died after his car overturned, landing in a driveway on Nelson Road on Saturday around 7 p.m., Cape Coral police said.

Milton Josue Rodriguez Navarro of Cape Coral died in the accident, according to police. He was driving near the 2200 block on Nelson road when his side-view mirror hit a mailbox and began to lose control, police said.

Navarro was driving very fast, veered off the road then hit a culvert, which sent his car into the air, witnesses told Cape Coral police. The car landed in an empty field, slid into a front yard, hit a portion of raised land in the yard, then flipped over “crushing down onto its roof,” witnesses told police.

The crash shut down Nelson Road for a few hours on Saturday.

An investigation into the crash is underway. Police have not yet determined whether alcohol was involved.
