FORT MYERS, Fla.- Spirits of Bacchus, a popular bar in downtown Fort Myers, will soon be moving from its longtime location on Hendry Street.
After trying to negotiate for the past two years, the owner said they weren’t able to come to a lease agreement with their landlord, real estate company Meta Group.
Meta Group wasn’t immediately available for comment.
Spirits of Bacchus has been an institution in downtown Fort Myers for more than a decade. But rent continues to increase for businesses in Fort Myers because of the area’s growing popularity, one bar owner said.
The owner of Bacchus said they plan to stay downtown and are currently looking at several different locations. The business’ location may be obtained by Kearns Restaurant Group, which owns several downtown locations like Ford’s Garage and Capone’s Pizza.
Kearns Restaurant Group denied any plans of moving onto the property.
