NORTH PORT, Fla.- Three men from North Carolina were arrested when North Port police found more than 300 marijuana edibles during a traffic stop.

Alfonso Aldape, 23, Brandon Leroy, 27, and Joshua Roach, 25, are facing charges for possession of drugs with the intent to sell and possession of marijuana.

The men’s truck driven by Leroy was pulled over by an officer for headlight and tail light violations along Tamiami Trail, near Sumter Crossing Drive.

The police officer could smell the odor of marijuana inside the car and a K-9 called to the scene later alerted authorities of the presence of drugs inside the car.

Hundreds of items labeled as “medical marijuana” and packaged in a way that might be appealing to children were found in a cooler, police said. The gummies and cookies tested positive for THC, officials said.

Authorities also found a large bag of weed, blunts, pills, and nearly $3,500 in cash.

Roach is also facing an additional charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance for the pills.
