60 marijuana plants found in NW Cape home

CAPE CORAL, Fla.- More than 60 marijuana plants were seized during a search warrant Wednesday at a home on NW 33 Terrace, the Cape Coral Police Department said.

Yosvany Hernandez Sanchez, 26, and Katia Gonzalez Ruiz, 28, were both arrested when authorities discovered the elaborate marijuana growth operation. The plants weighed more than 156 pounds in total, officials said.

Both Sanchez and Ruiz are facing charges for cultivating and trafficking marijuana. Ruiz is also facing an additional charge of resisting officers for fleeing into the attic during the investigation, police said.
