Ready, Set, Race! Pine Wood Derby Style

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Get ready for race day, as the Boy Scouts of America, Panther District, get ready for an exciting day of racing on Saturday, May 14th.

From 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. all are welcome to just watch or race a pine wood derby car on Southwest Florida’s largest pine wood derby track, reaching speeds up to 40 mph. After the public race ends the Cub Scouts will take to the track for their district pine wood derby race.

The track sits more than 100 feet long and 2 stories tall, built by the Collegiate High School at Florida Southwestern State College. The Drone Academy at the Collegiate High School at FSW will also be on hand during the event, to show off their drones to the public and race drones through an obstacle course.

The pine wood derby and drone event are both free and open to the public. Events take place on the campus of Florida Southwestern State College at Building T, located at 8099 College Pkwy. in Fort Myers.
