FORT MYERS, Fla. – A 20-year-old man was arrested Thursday and will face charges in a Mother’s Day shooting that left two men injured, Fort Myers police said Friday.

Antonio Vega, of 3029 Willard St. in Fort Myers, will be charged with two counts each of aggravated battery and weapons offense – missile into dwelling, vehicle, building or aircraft. Vega remained in the Lee County jail Friday under no bond.

“We are pleased to announce the arrest of Vega in this case and bring the person responsible for this violent act to justice,” Interim Fort Myers Police Chief Dennis Eads said in a statement.

Antwan Howard, 21, and Antonio Abrams, 20, were taken to Lee Memorial Hospital after being shot on the 3100 block of Edison Avenue at approximately 3:30 p.m. Both men suffered non-life threatening injuries and were conscious and responsive, police said.

Investigators have not said what led to the shooting.
