FORT MYERS, Fla.- A man is accused of pepper spraying a motorist while stopped at a red light Tuesday afternoon, Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers said.

The victim said he was at a red light at the intersection of Palm Beach Boulevard and New York Drive around 3:30 p.m. when he heard a man in the car next to him screaming profanities, officials said.

When the victim rolled down his window to advise the driver, identified as Edgar Keller, 52, that he had a child in the car, authorities say the suspect pulled out a can of pepper spray and began spraying the victim and his car.

Despite being sprayed in the eye, the victim was able to follow the red Chevy Blazer long enough to get write down the tag number, which came back to Keller, officials said.

Keller was last known to be living in Fort Myers and has previous convictions in Lee County for aggravated battery and the possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. He now faces a charge of battery for his actions this week.

Anyone with information on the Keller’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).  All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.  Tips may also be made online at www.swflcrimestoppers.or or by texting a tip to CRIMES (274637) Keyword: REWARD.
