FORT MYERS, Fla. — Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputy Micah Cox is no stranger to a basketball hoop in a neighborhood off Ortiz Avenue, so when the hoop broke, he sprung into action. Cox bought a new hoop and set it up in place of the old one Tuesday, allowing nearby children to continue with games in which Cox is a frequent participant. “As soon as he brought the basketball goal, it was just like excitement for every kid out here,” Ortiz Avenue resident Jamie Chapman said.
