FORT MYERS, Fla. – A strong tropical wave is developing in the Atlantic Ocean where forecast models predict it will continue to travel west before making a turn north once in the Caribbean Sea. The storm is likely to develop into a tropical storm within the next 48 hours, according to the National Hurricane Center. It is located 300 miles off the eastern coast of Barbados and will stay to the south of Southwest Florida for the next five days, according to WINK News Chief Meteorologist Jim Farrell.
