FORT MYERS, Fla. – Joseph Zieler, 54, who is accused of the brutal 1990 rape and murder of Robin Cornell, 11, and Lisa Story, 32, entered a not guilty plea Wednesday.

He is facing two counts of sexual battery, two counts of murder and a charge for burglary with assault, according to an arrest report, in what was one of the oldest unsolved homicide cases in Cape Coral history.

Zieler’s plea comes one week after Cape Coral police’s Sept. 28 announcement about how they were able to pin his DNA to the murder case.
