Collier initiative aims to help drivers, curb light pollution

Published: Updated:

NAPLES, Fla. — A more sophisticated lighting system is coming to roads and buildings in Collier County.

County officials plan to create street light covers that help drivers with poor vision and prevent light pollution. The county also wants to switch all the light bulbs to LEDs, which would save $3.6 million over the next 20 years.

Collier County leaders have partnered with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office and the International Dark-Sky Association on the project.
