Naples man arrested in child sex solicitation sting

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. — A 26-year-old Naples man is accused of riding his bike 20 miles to solicit sex from a Lee County Sheriff’s Office detective who had posed as a 12-year-old girl.

William Gregory Vega was arrested Wednesday following an operation conducted by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and Field Support Unit and the Innocent Images Unit. He sent sexually explicit pictures and videos of himself to the detective while asking for participation in sexual acts, according to investigators.

Vega then biked to Riverside Park on 10451 Old 41 Road, according to police.

Vega faces charges of lewd and lascivious exhibition using a computer, using a computer to lure or solicit a child, traveling to meet a minor to engage in sexual activity, and utilizing a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony, police said.

Vega is being held without bond. A court date has not been set.
