LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — A 43-year-old man is in custody after allegedly trying to kidnap a 15-year-old boy, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.

Christian Javier was arrested Monday after he stole the teen’s bike and forced him to get in his white Ford F-150, according to deputies.

The teen was riding his bike on Xelda Avenue at around 5:30 p.m. when Javier, who lives nearby, cut him off with his truck, saying the bike he was riding was actually his son’s bike.

He shoved the boy off his bike, placed it in the bed of this truck, then threatened the boy get in the truck as well, deputies said.

Javier drove to his Crawford Avenue home. He asked his son if the bike was his, and he said no.

He then brought the teen back to where he found him on Xelda Avenue, deputies said. When he got home, he told his mother, Diana Taylor, what happened.

“He took the bicycle out of his truck and threw it down, telling him to get out of his truck,” she said.

Javier is in custody facing robbery and kidnapping charges with a $125,000 bond.
