Lee County man facing child molestation charges

FORT MYERS, Fla. A 59-year-old man was arrested Thursday for allegedly molesting an underage girl, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.

Perry Dunlap, of 8954 Ellington St., is facing two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior after he was accused of molesting a young girl several times from March to August 2015, according to an arrest warrant.

The victim, whose family lived nearby and was friends with Dunlap, would watch movies with him regularly at his house, detectives said.

Dunlap began making sexual advances toward the victim and eventually started touching her inappropriately, deputies said.

The victim told detectives in a forensic interview his actions made her feel “sad, gross and scared,” according to the warrant.

When she asked him to stop, he said he was developing feelings for her and that made him “want to kill himself,” the warrant revealed.

After visiting a friend, the victim “shunned Perry” when he greeted her and told her mother she didn’t want to see Perry anymore.

The victim was initially hesitant, but she eventually reported Perry to the authorities in September 2016.

After an investigation, Dunlap was taken to the Lee County Jail, where he was released on bond.

He no longer lives in the house on Ellington Street, according to a source.
