FORT MYERS, Fla. Dozens gathered near the Fort Myers Police Department for the FGCU “Blue and Green Goes Blue and Black” walk Saturday morning.

Organized by FGCU students and Fort Myers police, the goal of the walk was to connect the black community and law enforcement.

“We need to remember that we’re not a divided people,” said FGCU student Missy Solomon. “We need to walk alongside the police and help them do their job, but at the same time, help them realize that we’re people too.”

Participants walked from the Fort Myers Police Department to the Lee County Black History Society building.
