Immokalee group to help residents understand new immigration policy

IMMOKALEE, Fla. Uncertainty has taken hold in the migrant community after President Trump’s implemented stricter enforcement of U.S. immigration laws Tuesday.

However, Peggy Rodriguez, the program coordinator for Guadalupe Social Services, is hosting an event Friday called the Immigration Emergency Plan to make sure people in the community are prepared and know their facts.

“It’s just a fear that our client has constantly,” she said.

The Immigration Emergency Plan will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church at 5:30 p.m.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and only the first 500 people will be helped.
