IMMOKALEE, Fla. An explosion took place early Wednesday morning at a Sunoco gas station along East Main Street, the Immokalee Fire Control District said.

Approximately 30 gallons of diesel fuel spilled at the Sunoco on 726 E. Main St., and the outside of the building sustained minor damage, according to fire officials. No injuries were reported.

A driver first reported the incident and said the gas station was on fire, the battalion chief said.

While it’s unclear when the explosion happened, or precisely what exploded, the scene was cleared at around 8:30 a.m., according to the battalion chief.

Fire officials took to Twitter to announce the initial investigation:

The explosion was caused by a static discharge, according to the chief, but officials are investigating the cause.

No further information was immediately available.
