NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. A 22-year-old man and his 18-year-old girlfriend were killed Thursday in a crash on the 6900 block of Bayshore Road.

Marvin Bryer, 22, of Fort Myers, was speeding westbound on Bayshore Road with passenger Jaya Rucker, 18, of North Fort Myers, at about 1:30 p.m. when he lost control of his 2004 Chrysler Crossfire, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The Chrysler slid off the roadway, flipped over the median and struck a tree, troopers said.

Bryer and Rucker were pronounced dead at the scene.

“We are surround(ed) by close friends and family at this unimaginable time grieving and remembering the joy that both Jaya and Marvin brought to all of our lives,” both families said in a statement. “They loved each other so very much.”
