CAPE CORAL, Fla. The early hours of Sunday morning ended in pepper spray and arrest for one 18-year-old man, the Cape Coral Police Department said Monday.

Alex M. Paz, of Cape Coral, is facing charges of carrying a concealed firearm, battery LEO, resisting arrest, possession of cocaine, and possession of a controlled substance, according to police.

Officers responded around 2:10 a.m. to the McDonald’s on 8 NE Pine Island Road after receiving a call about a man, later identified as Paz, brandishing a firearm at the eatery, police said.

A .32 caliber Astra handgun was discovered upon further investigation, according to police. Surveillance video corroborated the initial call, which showed Paz lifting his shirt and displaying the firearm tucked in his waistband, according to police.

Paz was agitated and refused to comply with officers who then used pepper spray to subdue the suspect, police said. He was taken to the Lee County Jail.

Following the arrest, officers also found cocaine and Xanax in Paz’s possession.

It’s unclear when he’ll appear in court.
