CAPE CORAL, Fla. Four people were cooking meth in a car when they were arrested Wednesday night, Cape Coral police said.

Christopher Murphy, 35, Fort Myers resident Stephen Gay Jr., 35, and Cape Coral residents Ashleigh Walters, 25, and Gerrit Richelson, 30, were taken into custody after a traffic stop on the 1700 block of Cape Coral Parkway East.

It’s unclear where Murphy lives.

Police dogs detected the presence of drugs in the vehicle. That led to a police search that uncovered a firearm, a variety of drugs and a “one-pot” methamphetamine production container that was actively cooking meth, police said.

Murphy, Gay, Walters and Richelson are facing drug possession, trafficking, paraphernalia and weapons charges.

Gay is in custody with no bond set. Walters was released Thursday on a $15,000 bond. Richelson and Murphy were set free without bond.
