Cape Coral homicide suspect held without bond

FORT MYERS, Fla. A 27-year-old man received no bond Tuesday following his arrest for a fatal Monday morning shooting in Cape Coral.

Ryan Doyon, who faces a second-degree murder charge, is accused of killing a man outside his home on the 1900 block of Cornwallis Parkway. The man, whose identity has not been released pending family notification, was found face down outside the home with a cellphone in his hand and a pistol nearby, Cape Coral police said.

The victim was initially seen walking to the home wearing a backpack, witnesses said in a police report. Shortly after, Doyon was seen chasing the victim outside while firing several rounds from an assault rifle.

Doyon admitted to chasing the victim after he was awakened by an armed stranger demanding keys to his safe, the report said. As Doyon attempted to open the safe, he grabbed the rifle and began shooting at the victim while inside of the home, the report said.

No evidence was found supporting Doyon’s statement, police said.

Doyon’s next court appearance is scheduled for June 19.
