Storm debris collection begins Monday in Charlotte County

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. Storm debris pickup starts Monday in Charlotte County.

Residents are asked to place debris from Hurricane Irma at their curbs away from regular garbage and recycling no later than 7 a.m., the county’s emergency management department said.

Debris is not to be placed in bags or near any of these objects:

  • Storm drains
  • Fences
  • Fire hydrants
  • Mailboxes
  • Poles
  • Transformers
  • Downed wires
  • Water meters
  • Vehicles
  • Anywhere close to overhead wires

All household garbage and recycling should be placed in proper containers at at the curb, emergency managers said.
