2 found guilty in 2009 south Fort Myers armed robbery

FORT MYERS, Fla. Two people were convicted of stealing nearly $1.8 million during a 2009 armed robbery outside a bank on Daniels Parkway, the state attorney’s office said Wednesday.

Diosme Fernandez Hano, 43, and Reinaldo Arrastia-Cardoso — aka Reinaldo Arrastia, 47, were found guilty of armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery charges, according to the state attorney’s office.

The pair robbed a Brinks armored truck on Nov. 30, 2009 outside the Fifth Third Bank at the intersection of Daniels Parkway and Treeline Avenue, according to evidence presented during the trial. Multiple county, state and federal agencies investigated the case.

Hano and Arrastia-Cardoso each face a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison, according to the state attorney’s office.

Sentencing hearings are scheduled for Jan. 29, 2018.
