Two new medical facilities come to Lee County

Lee County is welcoming two new healthcare facilities within its borders. Naples Community Hospital and Lee Health both have new facilities opening in the Bonita Springs and Estero areas. Residents look forward to having these health services nearby.

Bob and Sharon Hodel said they are glad to see NCH build a $34 million medical center a minute away from their Diamond Oaks Village home in Bonita Springs.

“What a convenience,” Bob said. “You get to be my age, you look for things close by; you don’t have to drive a long ways. The location is super for everything, and that’s just the icing on the cake.”

Business owners said it will attract more customers to the area.

“It’s so close to my business,” said Margarita Sanchez, owner of Alemar Salon Spa. “It’s going to bring more people. It’s convenient for them to be right close. They don’t even need to drive if they want to. They can just walk, so I love it.”

The new NCH outpatient medical center is located off S. Tamiami Trail. It will include a 24-hour emergency department, an imaging center and primary care services.

Back in April, the original plan was to build the medical center in Estero, but after those plans got rejected by the Estero Village Council, plans shifted to build the facility next-door in Bonita.

Lee Health opens this December in Estero . The $140 million medical campus is just up the road from the new NCH campus. The Bonita Springs center is also expected to open in December.

“Since we’ve lived here, I’ve had to call 911 and take my husband to the hospital in the ambulance,” Sharon Hodel said. “So, this is something that makes me more at ease.”
