About 135,000 Emerson thermostats have been recalled due to potential fire hazards. The recall involves Emerson Branded SensiWiFi thermostats. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said if the thermostat wires and the household line voltage come in contact, the thermostat can be damaged, possibly starting a fire. The affected thermostats all have the word “Emerson” on the front with a date code from 1416 to 1536 on the back. The thermostats are white with an LCD screen. There are three buttons below the screen, and up and down arrows and menu buttons are located to the right of the screen. Model numbers on the thermostats are 1F86U-42WF or UP500W. CSPC said homeowners need to contact the firm White-Rodgers to determine if their unit is included in the recall and learn what they need to do to repair or replace the unit. Consumers can call White-Rodgers at 888-847-8742 or visit the firm’s website. White-Rodgers said it has received eight reports of burn damage to the thermostat. The thermostats were sold nationwide at Home Depot, Johnstone, Golden State FC stores and heating ventilation and air conditioning equipment distributors from April 2014 through December 2016.
