The Florida Highway Patrol will be honoring the life and career of Master Sgt. Daniel Hinton Wednesday with a procession and service at Hertz Arena.

Hinton suffered a heart attack during the training exercise and was taken to Gulf Coast Hospital where he died on February, 19.

Master Sgt. Hinton served with the FHP for 32 years.

A viewing is being held Tuesday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Gendron Funeral Home, 2325 East Mall Drive in Fort Myers.

On Wednesday, the procession will depart from Grendon Funeral Home at 2325 East Mall Drive, across from the Edison Mall.

Procession route:

  • Solomon Boulevard to Colonial Boulevard
  • Colonial Boulevard to Metro Parkway
  • Metro Parkway to Michael G. Rippe Parkway
  • Michael G. Rippe Parkway to Alico Road
  • Alico Road to Three Oaks Parkway
  • Three Oaks Parkway to Estero Parkway
  • Estero Parkway to Ben Hill Griffin Parkway
  • Ben Hill Griffin Parkway to Everblades Parkway (North entrance)

The funeral services will start at Noon at Hertz Arena.

At the conclusion of ceremony, an outside ceremony consisting of the honor guard flag presentation, 21-gun salute, flyover and last call will take place following the inside ceremony on the south grass lot located between the arena and Miramar Outlet Lake.
