The memorial in North Fort Myers is for 12-year-old Alana Tamplin, who was killed in a hit-and-run crash in January, steps away from her sister’s bus stop.

“That’s kinda hard to talk about. It really is,” said Alana Tamplin’s father Daryl Tamplin.

Daryl Tamplin says the hit-and-run death of 8-year-old Layla Aiken in Cape Coral hits horribly close to home.

“It’s a kid. It’s the last thing you ever want to hear, and putting children in the ground is not my idea of a good day,” Daryl Tamplin said.

For the last three months, Daryl Tamplin has begged for drivers to slow down on his street.

He says the latest child killed, is another painful reminder to pay attention.

“I don’t want to see it happen again. I have two other kids, they should be allowed to ride their bikes in the road, and people should be doing the speed limit and watching for them,” Daryl Tamplin said.

He says he has called law enforcement multiple times and, for home, not enough has changed since his daughter’s death.

Now, with another little girl killed by a hit-and-run driver, Daryl Tamplin is turning to the community with a message.

“I just want somebody to shine some light on this situation out here and get these people to slow down,” Daryl Tamplin said.

His main message to the community is to slow down and watch for bus stops.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, as of today, no one has been arrested in Alana Tamplin’s case.
