Collier County Sheriff’s Office arrested Richard Doyle Kidder, 26, for stealing a car from a Golden Gate Estates woman who lives in a nursing home. They say the man accused of the theft helped the woman’s caretaker with everyday tasks.

Deputies say it all started when someone called about a man ringing their doorbell and making their light sensors on their home turn on and off.

Deputies searched the area and say they found Kidder hiding in nearby bushes. They also found the stolen car parked on an unpaved edge of the road.

Investigators say Kidder took the car from the person who was taking care of that woman’s estate.

Neighbors we spoke to say they are worried about this kind of activity near children in the neighborhood.

“I mean we have kids here,” Christopher Landaverde said. “And they always like to play outside and do their own thing. It’s concerning there are people here doing that type of thing.”

Kidder has an extensive arrest record with CCSO that dates back to 2012 when he was 18 years old. Charges were also related to stolen property and Grand Theft.

Kidder faces a charge for Grand Theft Auto for stealing the woman’s car.

Kidder is in custody at Collier County jail.
