Credit: WINK News A worker at a Publix in Englewood East has tested positive for the coronavirus. Publix confirmed Wednesday that the employee at store #0778, 13435 S McCall Rd. contracted COVID-19 but did not say when, nor did they disclose what interactions the employee had with customers. The employee will quarantine for 14 days and receive paid leave. Publix said they will notify, quarantine and give paid leave to any associates who came into contact with the employee. Publix recently installed plexiglass shields at registers, customer service desks, and pharmacies in every store. The store also took steps for social distancing and adjusted shopping hours, leaving time for employees to restock and clean the store. Publix said the health of their customers, associates and communities is a priority. The condition of the employee is not known at this time.
