Collier County Sheriff’s Office is searching for possible suspects wanted in a recent horse slaughter near Immokalee. The sheriff’s office wants the public’s help to find anyone who was involved in the animal’s killing.

According to the CCSO Facebook post, a suspect or suspects slaughtered a horse at a pasture off State Road 29 and extracted the animal’s meat, leaving behind its remains.

Detectives said someone entered the fenced pasture sometime between noon Tuesday and 8 a.m. Thursday and led the horse to a neighboring pasture, where they butchered the animal.

Deputies said it appears the suspect or suspects were after the horse’s meat based upon the remains left at the scene.

CCSO confirmed detectives are looking into the possibility this case is connected to a horse slaughtered for its meat in Golden Gate Estates in February .

Any photos are exempt from release due to the active investigation.

Anyone with information can call CCSO at 239-252-9300 or remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward by calling Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780.TIPS (8477).
