Firefighters contained a mulch flare-up at MW Horticulture in North Fort Myers Monday night. Denise Houghtaling with M.W. Horticulture confirmed there the visible smoke coming from the North Fort Mys facility was due to a small hot spot. Houghtaling said there were no flames and said this kind of flare-up is typical of mulch piles during the rainy season. Florida Highway Patrol listed this incident as brush fire off I-75 in North Fort Myers on its website. The facility is off southbound I-75 near mile marker 144, just north of Bayshore Road. The scene has been contained.
