A 27-year-old woman was bitten by an alligator in the Herons Glen community Thursday morning. She was trimming trees along the edge of a lake at around 9:15 a.m. when the attack occurred.

The woman was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers, where she was treated for injuries to both legs and is now in stable condition. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating the incident, and a contracted nuisance alligator trapper has been dispatched to the location.
