A Lee County man was arrested Wednesday, accused of snatching a purse at a gas station on Sept. 22.

Bobby Bean, 52, was picked up in Broward County and faces charges of robbery with sudden snatching and grand theft in connection with the Sept. 22 incident in Lee.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the RaceTrac in Lehigh Acres in reference to a woman being robbed. The victim told deputies that an unknown man was acting suspicious near her vehicle. The suspect then approached her aggressively and snatched her purse away before fleeing the scene in a white Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit reviewed video surveillance, spoke to several witnesses and received a Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers tip before identifying Bean as the suspect.

Arrest records in Lee County show Bean has an extensive criminal history dating back to 1998.
