A Cape Coral woman, 33, was killed in a crash early Monday in DeSoto County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was driving north in the inside northbound travel lane of US-17 approaching Southwest Skates Street. The other driver, a man of unknown age, was traveling south on the same lane, and the two pickup trucks collided head-on.

The woman was driving with three children in the car. Two of them, a 13-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl, had only minor injuries, but a 5-year-old girl was seriously injured. All three were transported to Tampa General Hospital.

The Florida Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of crash victims, citing Marsy’s Law.
