structure fire in Tice A fire broke out at an abandoned home in Fort Myers Monday afternoon. The fire took place in the 300 block of Fairfax Drive in Tice. Tice Fire Chief Ted Ross says it was originally a tree on fire. “We had a 911 call about a potential tree on fire. When we were in route, fire was upgraded to a structure fire. First arriving units saw fire coming out of the windows and doors,” he said. The fire department is still investigating, but they did manage to put the fire out rather quickly. “There was no injuries to any of the firefighters or any of the occupants. The structure was unoccupied at the time. We’re doing our preliminary stages of the fire investigation at this moment,” Chief Ross said. People in the neighborhood are saying the fire could’ve possibly been set in an attempt to get the people next door.
