Three people were arrested Saturday night in Fort Myers after deputies say they pointed a laser at a sheriff’s office helicopter.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit was responding to a call in Central District when a trick-or-treater shined a green laser light into the cockpit of the helicopter, LCSO said.

The unit was able to point deputies on the ground to a driveway on Arbor Avenue where the trio was standing in a driveway.

Arrested were Xavier Satchell, 18; Adam Schlesier, 40; and a 15-year-old boy. All three are facing a third-degree felony charge of misusing a laser.

“I can’t begin to explain how dangerous it is to put our aviation crew members in jeopardy by pointing a laser light at their eyes,” stated Sheriff Carmine Marceno. “Any person who intentionally tries to harm my family members will go to jail.”

The arrests come after a Lehigh Acres man was arrested Friday for pointing a laser at the LCSO helicopter.
