A 61-year-old Port Charlotte man has serious injuries after being hit by a car.

The crash happened Saturday afternoon on northbound Kings Highway east of Sandhill Boulevard in Charlotte County.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the 61-year-old was riding a motorcycle when a car failed to slow down and entered his lane.

The right front end of the car hit the motorcycle.

The 45-year-old driver of the car is facing careless driving charges.

The Florida Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of those involved in crashes, citing Marsy’s Law.
