Fort Myers Police Department confirms a Paul Laurence Dunbar Middle School student was arrested Wednesday after he was accused of an incident related to a threat posted on social media.

According to FMPD, the department’s school resource officer assigned to the school detained the student at the middle school campus and brought him into custody for the threat.

Parents of students at Dunbar Middles school received a message in the afternoon about the social media threat and the student’s arrest.

Police say the threat circulated around the school during the morning, and information was brought forward that eventually led to the suspect identification and arrest.

There is no further information at this time.
