A 21-year-old Naples man was arrested on Thursday for attempting to flee from deputies after going on a racist rant at a Japanese Steakhouse.

Deputies found Carter Scudder chasing a woman in the parking lot of Ninja Japanese Steakhouse, on Vanderbilt Road.

Scudder fled the area and ran away from a deputy who told him to stop multiple times, according to a Collier County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

Scudder led deputies on a chase.

Once he was captured, deputies were told that Scudder and a group of people had entered the restaurant and became verbal with staff and were asked to leave, a restaurant manager told the deputy, the report shows.

“That’s when Carter began yelling racial slurs,” at the manager and staff, according to the arrest report.

The manager said when deputies arrived he was still cursing at staff and chasing the woman. The woman was no longer on scene when the deputy came back after chasing Scudder.

Scudder was booked at the Naples Jail Center on charges of resisting a law enforcement officer without violence and disorderly conduct, records show.

He has since bonded out of jail.
