Adult, child killed after crash with semi-truck in Charlotte County

An adult and a child both died from their injuries after a crash with a semi-truck Tuesday on State Road 31 in Charlotte County.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened after a 33-year-old woman from Punta Gorda ran a stop sign on Little Farm Road at SR-31. She drove into the path of a southbound semi-truck that collided with the driver’s side of the car.

The woman was killed, and an 11-year-old boy from Punta Gorda, who was taken to the hospital for treatment, died from his injuries Wednesday.

The driver of the semi-truck had minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation by FHP.
