The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles’ (FLHSMV) driver license issuance system continues to experience an extended period of intermittent performance disruptions statewide. Tax Collectors statewide were alerted to these issues October 29, 2021.

The Lee County Tax Collector’s office is working diligently to serve customers despite the system issues; however, customers seeking driver’s license-related services may experience delays or extended wait times.

Tax Collector, Noelle Branning, states, “Driver license issuance is an essential service we provide to the community. We understand the adverse impact FLHSMV system outages are having on our customers and remain hopeful a solution will be identified quickly.”

The Lee County Tax Collector’s office is monitoring the situation with FLHSMV and looks forward to resuming normal operations when these issues are resolved. In the meantime, customers can follow FLHSMV on Twitter (@FLHSMV) for system updates.

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles said in a statement Wednesday:

“Today, FLHSMV deployed a fix for the most-recent network issue impacting in-office driver license issuance statewide. Tax Collector and FLHSMV offices are beginning to return to service, but some locations may take longer than others.

We have been in constant contact with our Tax Collector partners on this, and have been updating our Twitter feed as information is available, and will continue to do so.

Additionally, online driver license services are available at MyDMV Portal, and customers can check their driver license status here.”
