Former Hendry County Sheriff and wife injured in crash

The Hendry County Sheriff’s Office is on the scene of a crash near SR-80 and Double J Acres Road.

The inside eastbound lane of SR-80 is open while the outside lane remains closed.

Former Hendry County Sheriff Tommy Vaughn and his wife, Dawn, have both suffered injuries due to this crash. However, the sheriff’s office would not confirm the severity of the couple’s injuries.

Deputies are on scene diverting traffic and ask that drivers reduce speed in the area.

A motorcycle was damaged in the crash and car was seen in a ditch.
