The Collier County Sheriff’s Office and the Naples Police Department arrested two men on Wednesday for a string of vehicle burglaries.

Detectives say 54-year-old Rodrigo Ome, of Naples, and Raul Pineros, 53, of Hialeah, are suspects in vehicle burglaries in the county and the City of Naples.

Shoppers who made high-end purchases and left them in their vehicles were targeted, according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

“This was truly a team effort with one goal in mind: keeping our community safe,” said Collier County Sheriff Rambosk. “These arrests serve as a strong reminder to our community about the importance of always locking car doors and never leaving valuables unattended inside your vehicle.”

Detectives said they saw the two men walking around the Waterside Shops and looking in their vehicles.

Ome was seen entering two unlocked luxury vehicles but he made away with nothing, detectives said.

Detectives then followed the two men to the Whole Foods at Mercato where they say they saw the men load up on $400 in groceries and leave without paying.

They took the pair into custody.

Ome is charged with two counts of vehicle burglary and retail theft. He was also charged with driving without a valid license.

Pineros is charged with first-degree larceny.
